The Potlatch Club, a once-forgotten boutique hotel in Eleuthera, was originally established by wealthy New York socialites in 1958. However, due to lax management, the property fell into disrepair in the 1980s. It wasn’t until high school friends Bruce Loshusan and Hans Febles reconnected on social media that the property was brought back to life. Inspired by Febles’ photos from the Berry Islands, the friends decided to embark on a hotel venture in Eleuthera, ultimately acquiring the rundown Potlatch Club in 2016.
During the renovation of the Potlatch Club, the team made a conscious effort to retain elements of the original construction, such as the clubhouse with its black-and-white checkered floors and whitewashed arches. In addition to renovating existing cottages and suites, new villas were introduced, along with a central beach pavilion, a spa, and a gym. The guestroom interiors were revamped with pink coral stone floors, designer furniture, and artwork, creating an upscale yet relaxed beachy vibe.
Located in the secluded region of Eleuthera, the Potlatch Club was intentionally kept boutique in size to maintain its intimate and private atmosphere. With only three suites, three garden cottages, three ocean-facing cottages, and two villas, including butler service, the hotel offers a personalized experience for guests. The property features private verandas, terraces, and shoreline pavilions, catering to those seeking a tranquil and exclusive retreat.
The Potlatch Club is set to reopen on June 15, with reservations currently being accepted. The hotel’s rates start at $475 per night for a Garden View Room during the low season (June to November). Situated 20 minutes from Governor’s Harbour Airport and an hour from North Eleuthera Airport, the location provides convenient access for travelers coming from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Nassau.
