The Transformation of The Mirage Hotel & Casino into Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas

The Mirage Hotel & Casino, a longstanding staple of the Las Vegas Strip, will be closing its doors on July 17 to make way for a major transformation. This iconic property is set to become the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas under the ownership of Hard Rock. The deal was finalized on December 19, 2022, with Hard Rock acquiring the property from MGM Resorts International for a staggering $1.1 billion. Since then, the hotel has continued to operate under the Mirage name, but that is all about to change with this exciting new development.

One of the most striking features of the upcoming development is the construction of a nearly 700-foot guitar-shaped hotel tower, which will replace the Mirage’s iconic volcano. This innovative design is sure to capture the attention of visitors and solidify the property’s status as a must-visit destination on the Las Vegas Strip. The new Hard Rock Las Vegas is projected to open its doors in the spring of 2027, promising guests a one-of-a-kind experience that combines luxury accommodations with world-class entertainment offerings.

As the closure date approaches, guests who have reservations or show tickets beyond July 14 will have their bookings automatically canceled. This includes reservations made through third-party booking platforms, which will also be refunded accordingly. Hard Rock has assured guests who made direct bookings that their deposits will be returned within seven to 10 days. Additionally, reservations will be modified to ensure that all hotel guests check out on or before July 15. While the hotel undergoes its transformation, the iconic Hard Rock Café on the Las Vegas Strip will remain open to guests.

The Mirage Hotel & Casino first opened its doors in 1989 and quickly became a beloved landmark on the Las Vegas Strip. Over the years, it has played host to countless memorable events and welcomed guests from around the world. Its acquisition by MGM Resorts in 2000 marked a new chapter in its storied history, but the forthcoming transformation into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas represents an exciting new era for this iconic property. As the Mirage prepares to close its doors, it leaves behind a lasting legacy that will be remembered by all who have had the pleasure of experiencing its hospitality.
