The Future of Royal Caribbean Group’s Presence in the Galapagos Islands

Royal Caribbean Group is considering selling its older ships, Celebrity Xpedition and Celebrity Xploration, that currently operate in the Galapagos Islands. However, this move does not signal a retreat from the region. Jason Liberty, the CEO, expressed the company’s interest in expanding its presence in the Galapagos despite the potential sale of the two older vessels.

Modern Fleet Accommodations

With the sale of Celebrity Xpedition and Celebrity Xploration to Lindblad Expeditions, Royal Caribbean Group will still have two modern ships serving the Galapagos: Silver Origin and Celebrity Flora. These two vessels, launched in 2019 and 2021 respectively, were specifically built for Celebrity and Silversea brands. Each ship can accommodate up to 100 guests, complying with the Galapagos’ strict regulations regarding ship size and passenger capacity.

CEO Jason Liberty emphasized the success of Royal Caribbean Group’s Galapagos cruises, stating that satisfaction levels among guests are “exceptionally high.” The Flora and Origin, being part of the Celebrity and Silversea brands, offer a superior experience compared to the older Xpedition and Xploration vessels. Liberty praised the popularity of the modern ships, highlighting their consistent full capacity and positive feedback from travelers.

The Galapagos Islands are renowned for being a unique and protected destination, offering one of the best vacation experiences according to Liberty. He described the Origin and Flora as “floating jewels” that provide guests with unforgettable adventures in the region. Royal Caribbean Group’s focus on delivering top-notch experiences in the Galapagos sets them apart from other cruise operators in the area.

Despite the potential sale of older ships, Royal Caribbean Group remains committed to enhancing its presence in the Galapagos Islands. The success of the Silver Origin and Celebrity Flora demonstrates the company’s ability to deliver exceptional cruise experiences in this iconic destination. With a strong focus on quality and guest satisfaction, Royal Caribbean Group is poised to continue dominating the Galapagos cruise market for years to come.
