On a recent trip to the Bosa Carnival, we flew into Alghero Airport and embarked on a scenic drive to Bosa. The 45-minute drive along the coastline offered breathtaking views and a unique perspective of the region’s natural beauty. Upon entering Bosa, we were greeted by a charming mix of colorful homes lining the streets, each painted in vibrant hues. The community’s strict laws require houses to be painted in specific colors, creating a picturesque backdrop against the blue sky.
As the carnival is a popular event in Bosa, accommodations such as hotels and B&Bs tend to book up quickly. Planning ahead is crucial to secure a place to stay during the festivities. We opted to stay on a mahogany yacht known as a gulet, which offered a serene retreat a short distance away from the carnival activities. Strolling along the Temo River, we savored the peaceful ambiance of Bosa, taking in the lush greenery and picturesque bridges that connected the town.
Our visit to Bosa allowed us to immerse ourselves in the town’s rich history and cultural traditions. We witnessed skilled artisans practicing centuries-old leatherworking techniques in hidden workshops, creating exquisite leather goods such as bags and belts. A tasting event at a local winery introduced us to the region’s famous Malvasia wine, renowned for its sweet and aromatic flavor profile. We also embarked on a chartered gulet boat tour, taking in the stunning coastal scenery and enjoying a bed and breakfast experience aboard the vessel.
