International Expansion and New Routes: Avelo’s Strategic Growth

Discount airline Avelo has announced its plans to expand its operations in Connecticut by launching services from Bradley International Airport, located just north of Hartford. This move comes as part of the carrier’s strategy to enhance its presence in the region and cater to the growing demand for affordable air travel options. Avelo will introduce 18 new twice-weekly routes in the fall, with seven of them originating from Bradley. The addition of two Boeing 737NG aircraft to the fleet will support these new routes, which are set to commence in the coming months.

In addition to its domestic expansion, Avelo will also embark on its first international services starting in November. The airline’s inaugural international routes will operate out of Bradley International Airport, with flights to popular tourist destinations such as Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Cancun, Mexico. This marks a significant milestone for Avelo, as it extends its reach beyond the continental U.S. and offers travelers more options for leisure and business travel. Last year, Avelo initiated its first non-domestic route from New Haven to Puerto Rico, paving the way for further international expansion.

Avelo’s network will see a considerable expansion with the introduction of new routes from various airports across the Northeast and Central Florida. In addition to the services from Bradley, the airline will commence operations from Lakeland, Florida, to six other destinations, including Atlanta, San Juan, and Rochester. This move reflects Avelo’s commitment to providing travelers with convenient and affordable air travel options, while also tapping into underserved markets to stimulate demand.

By adding new routes from key airports such as Hartford, Albany, and Manchester, Avelo aims to enhance connectivity within its network and facilitate seamless travel for passengers.
