Revitalization on the High Seas: Windstar Cruises’ Wind Surf Renovations

Windstar Cruises has announced an exciting phase of renovations for its flagship sailing vessel, the Wind Surf. This first stage of upgrades is set to commence in November in Cadiz, Spain, with the ship emerging refreshed on December 21. The enhancements aim to elevate the cruising experience by transforming suites and public areas into luxurious, inviting spaces that cater to discerning travelers.

Luxury Inspirations: Suites and Accommodations

Among the most noteworthy updates are the new Broadmoor and Sea Island suites, which draw inspiration from the opulent resorts of the same name located in Colorado and Georgia, respectively. Reflecting the shared ownership of the Anschutz family, these suites will offer a taste of the opulence found in high-end resorts, designed to provide an atmosphere of comfort and elegance onboard. Furthermore, the Officer’s Suite (previously known as Cabin 501) will be rebranded as the Owner’s Suite, showcasing an “elevated nautical look” that combines aesthetic appeal with premium amenities. This transformation aims to enhance guests’ experiences by blending luxurious comforts with the charm of sea travel.

Culinary experiences on the Wind Surf will also see significant enhancements. The main dining venue, called Amphora, will undergo a dramatic redesign inspired by the hues and textures of the sea, featuring elements such as pearls and smooth stones. This attention to detail will create a captivating environment for dining, complemented by color palettes reminiscent of sunset-drenched horizons. A major highlight will be the addition of new seating arrangements, including curved booths that offer both intimacy for small parties and comfortable seating for families.

Additionally, the ship’s Compass Rose restaurant will embrace a fresh aesthetic with modern decor highlighted by vibrant splashes of blue and orange. A multipurpose stage area will host live music, lending a lively ambiance to dining experiences. This multifaceted approach to culinary space reimagines the onboard dining experience as not just a meal but an integral part of the Wind Surf journey.

As part of the renovation plan, Windstar is committed to revamping public spaces to foster a more inviting atmosphere. The lobby will be redesigned to function as a welcoming hub, offering additional seating and a contemporary vibe that resonates with a boutique hotel feel. Similarly, a newly expanded retail area will emulate the luxury brand shopping experience, enhancing the overall ambiance of the ship.

The Pool Deck will also receive a makeover, complete with natural color schemes that evoke a beach-like serenity. New tiling for the whirlpools, designed to resemble ocean waves, promises to create an inviting space for relaxation and leisure.

Looking ahead, the Wind Surf will embark on a second phase of enhancements scheduled for completion in December 2026. This will involve upgrades to staterooms, the Stella Bistro, Veranda, and the fitness studio, making it a part of a broader multiyear initiative that will see all three of Windstar’s Wind-class ships—Wind Surf, Wind Star, and Wind Spirit—undergo substantial updates. The Wind Star has already completed its first renovation phase, with the next stage planned for April 2026, ensuring that Windstar Cruises continues to offer exceptional, modern cruising experiences.

The renovations on Wind Surf signal an exciting new chapter for Windstar Cruises, reflecting their commitment to luxury and personalized service on the open seas.
