Revitalizing Elegance: The Transformation of Windstar Cruises’ Wind Surf

Windstar Cruises recently announced an exciting new chapter for its flagship vessel, the Wind Surf. This charming sailing ship, known for its intimate cruising experiences, will undergo a major renovation starting this November in Cádiz, Spain. The first phase is set to culminate on December 21, introducing a host of refreshing modifications to guest suites and public areas that promise to elevate the cruising experience for all who set sail.

One of the standout features of these renovations is the reimagining of the ship’s suites. The newly designed Broadmoor and Sea Island suites are inspired by two luxurious resorts owned by the same Anschutz family who owns Windstar Cruises. With designs that reflect the essence of Colorado’s Broadmoor and Georgia’s Sea Island, these suites will embody an upscale yet nautical ambiance. Furthermore, the Officer’s Suite, which is often a favored accommodation for guests, will be renamed the Owner’s Suite and receive a sophisticated nautical redesign. This single suite’s proximity to the officer’s quarters makes it unique, offering guests a glimpse into life at sea in an elegantly refined space.

Wind Surf’s public spaces will also see significant overhauls. The main dining venue, Amphora, is set to adopt an innovative design theme influenced by the ocean. Integrated sea-inspired elements such as pearls, smooth stones, and sea glass will be woven into the architecture and furnishings, creating a serene dining atmosphere reflective of the tranquility of the ocean. These features will be complemented by sunset-toned color palettes and new seating arrangements, enhancing the social dining experience.

Accompanying these changes, the ship’s lobby will transform into a more inviting space designed to better serve guests. It will now include additional seating options and exude a boutique hotel vibe, reinforcing the ship’s overall ethos of elegance and comfort. Windstar also plans to enlarge the retail area, refining the shopping experience to evoke the exclusivity of luxury brand stores.

The Compass Rose restaurant is another highlight of the renovations. With its stylish new décor, punctuated by vibrant blue and orange accents, this space will also feature a multipurpose stage designed for live performances, further enriching the onboard cultural atmosphere. This aim for a lively, entertaining environment aligns perfectly with Windstar’s vision of providing memorable cruise experiences.

While the current phase of renovations will undoubtedly invigorate the Wind Surf, it is just the beginning. A second phase is slated for December 2026, during which staterooms will receive new furnishings and decor, and enhancements will be made to specific dining venues like Stella Bistro and Veranda, along with upgrades to the fitness studio. This multi-year initiative encompasses all three ships in Windstar’s Wind-class fleet, ensuring that Wind Surf will join the Wind Star and Wind Spirit on the path to renewal and sophistication.

Windstar Cruises’ ambitious renovations signal a commitment to creating an unparalleled luxury experience at sea. The thoughtful design elements and enhancements to both private and public spaces on the Wind Surf promise a rejuvenated atmosphere for discerning travelers seeking adventure and relaxation in a beautifully crafted environment.
