The Best Vodka of 2024: Pluto Vodka from South Australia

The Singapore World Spirits Competition has come a long way since its inception in 2019. Initially focused on spirits from the Asia Pacific region, the competition has now gained a global perspective. However, it’s essential to note that the majority of judges and entries still come from this particular corner of the globe. Despite this, the competition is recognized as one of the top spirit tastings worldwide.

The Best In Show Vodka of 2024, as declared by the Singapore panelists, comes all the way from Oceania. Pluto Vodka, hailing from the scenic Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, has taken the prestigious title. Crafted from 100% organic Australian sugarcane, this 80-proof liquid undergoes a cool fermentation process, leading to a unique and expressive final product after a meticulous 10x distillation process. The vodka boasts a subtle sweetness, characteristic of its sugarcane origins, but it also surprises with a rich body that almost mimics the creaminess of coconut. These distinctive qualities captured the judges’ attention in Singapore and have also impressed at other competitions.

Pluto Vodka’s success extends beyond the Singapore World Spirits Competition. In the past year, the brand received a Master Medal at the Global Vodka Masters and was honored with the Best Vodka award at the Tasting Australia Spirit Awards in 2023. With a commitment to batch distilling without any additives, Pluto Vodka is priced at around $68 AUD (approximately $46 USD), with an option to have it shipped anywhere in Australia for an additional $10. Unfortunately, distribution in the United States is currently unavailable, but given the brand’s recent accolades, it may soon make its way onto American shelves.

Aside from their award-winning vodka, Pluto Spirits also produces a gin and a selection of flavorful rums. Customers can anticipate a range of quality spirits from the Fleurieu Peninsula distillery. Keep an eye out for these products as they continue to gain recognition and success in the competitive spirits industry. Stay tuned for more updates on newly-crowned champions from the Singapore World Spirits Competition as we continue to bring you the latest news and innovations in the world of spirits.
