The Evolution of Dining Options on Princess Cruises

Starting in September, Princess Cruises is introducing a new dining experience for guests onboard their ships. Traditionally, guests had the option of choosing between early or late dinner seating for the duration of their cruise. However, Princess Cruises will now offer a more flexible dining approach, allowing guests to dine at any time they choose in the main dining rooms. This change will give guests the freedom to make reservations for a specific night or simply walk in whenever they please.

The flexible dining option will be available on all Princess Cruises ships, with different floors or areas of the main dining rooms designated for each type of dining experience. For example, guests aboard the Coral Princess and Island Princess will have a dining room specifically set aside for those choosing flexible dining. This approach was first introduced on the Sun Princess, where the three-story dining room was divided into traditional seatings, reservations, and walk-ins.

According to Sami Kohen, Princess Cruises’ vice president of food and beverage, guests aboard the Sun Princess were delighted with the dining flexibility offered. As a result, the cruise line decided to extend this concept to all other ships in their fleet. Guests will be able to use the cruise line’s app to make reservations for traditional seating or opt for nightly reservations and walk-ins starting from June 17.

To support the transition to the new dining system, main dining reservations booked for voyages sailing on or after September 14 will be canceled for all ships except the Sun Princess. This adjustment aims to streamline the dining experience for guests and ensure a smooth transition to the new dining options available on Princess Cruises.

Princess Cruises’ decision to introduce more dining flexibility reflects a growing trend in the cruise industry towards personalized experiences for guests. By catering to different dining preferences, Princess Cruises aims to enhance the overall guest experience and provide a more enjoyable dining experience for all passengers. With the implementation of these new dining options, Princess Cruises continues to innovate and evolve to meet the changing needs and preferences of modern travelers.
