The Improvement in Airlines’ Baggage Handling in 2023

The report, titled Baggage IT Insights Report, revealed that airlines mishandled 6.9 bags per 1,000 passengers, which was a 9.2% decrease from the previous year. This improvement is notable considering that passenger traffic increased by approximately 30% during the same period.

One interesting finding from the report was the difference in mishandled baggage rates between domestic and international routes. The mishandled-baggage rate on international itineraries was significantly higher at 12.1 per thousand compared to 2.4 per thousand on domestic flights.
