The Unique Igloo Experience Aboard the National Geographic Resolution

Lindblad Expeditions has recently unveiled two new ships, the National Geographic Resolution and its sister ship, the Endurance. While these ships boast the usual upscale amenities such as spas, lounges, and gourmet dining options, what sets them apart are the unique igloos situated on deck. Designed as glassed-in domes that extend over the two aft corners of the ships, these igloos offer guests a secluded and picturesque vantage point for sightseeing.

Unlike traditional igloos, these modern versions are not heated or curtained, which may pose a challenge during colder nights. Guests are provided with items such as eye masks, heated water bottles, and blankets to ensure their comfort. Additionally, the lack of electrical plugs encourages guests to disconnect and immerse themselves in the experience without the distractions of technology.

During the day, guests can relax on a queen-size daybed inside the igloo or take in the sights while reading or napping. At night, the daybed is transformed into a cozy sleeping space complete with soft linens, pillows, and ambient lighting. The clear ceiling of the igloo allows guests to stargaze while drifting off to sleep, adding to the enchanting experience of spending a night at sea.

Adjacent to the igloos are glass-walled hot tubs that offer a unique way to unwind and enjoy the stunning scenery. Guests can also visit the ship’s open bridge at any hour to observe the sea, icebergs, and possibly spot some wildlife. This flexibility in access to various onboard amenities ensures that guests can tailor their experience to their preferences, whether it be a peaceful night in the igloo or an invigorating soak in the hot tub.

All guests on board the National Geographic Resolution have the opportunity to stay in the igloos, with suite guests receiving priority access. Booking an igloo is on a first-come, first-served basis, and these unique accommodations tend to fill up quickly due to their popularity. According to Noah Brodsky, Lindblad’s chief commercial officer, the igloos offer a one-of-a-kind experience that is both special and memorable for guests.

The igloo experience aboard the National Geographic Resolution is unlike any other in the world. From the stunning views to the cozy accommodations, spending a night in these glassed-in domes offers a unique perspective on cold-weather cruising. Whether guests choose to relax in the igloos during the day or marvel at the midnight sun from their cozy beds, the igloo experience is sure to be a highlight of any voyage aboard the National Geographic Resolution.
